The science of medicine sparked Dr. Joel Johnson's interest in becoming a doctor.
Dr. Johnson, a native of Adams, North Dakota, graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Science and started his medical practice at First Care Health Center in 1996.
Dr. J, as he's known to many of his patients, spends his time off from "fixing patients" to "wrecking cars." He travels the countryside as Dr. J's Motor Sports smashing cars in Demolition Derby competitions. Dr. J. has a state Demolition Derby title under his belt.

First Care Health Center's resident board certified surgeon is Dr. Olukayode S. Omotunde. His education also includes Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh; Fellow, International College of Surgeons.
A native of Nigeria and now a U.S. citizen, Dr. Omotunde started at First Care Health Center in 1989.
Dr. Omotunde's interest in the medical field stemmed from seeing the mystery of healing in a seriously sick younger brother.
Fishing and listening to music are some of the hobbies and interests that fill Dr. Omotunde's time when he's not working.

Tammy Clemetson, PA-C is someone who has both sides of the NDSU-UND rivalry covered.
Tammy graduated from NDSU with a RN degree. After working as a nurse at First Care Health Center since 1986 she decided to become a Physician's Assistant. Tammy graduated from UND as a PA-C.
Tammy's interest in the medical field started because it was the only field at that time that required only two years for a degree. After she got into the health care field her feelings changed. “It's a way to help improve the overall well being of my community” said Clemetson.
Tammy enjoys reading, shopping, scrap booking, sewing and hunting in her spare time.

Dr. Mirza Baig, Gastroenterologist, will be available for consults in hepatology and gastroenterology, and procedures the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month beginning at 9:30 a.m. at First Care Health Center in Park River, North Dakota. Call 701-284-7500 to schedule appointments.
Dr. Baig is a native of Pakistan and received college degrees in medicine and surgery from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. His two-year internship in general medicine and general surgery was completed at Civil Hospital Karachi. He completed a three-year residency in internal medicine at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Baig completed fellowships in gastroenterology and hepatology through Chicago Medical School and Harvard Medical School, receiving three years of training in these specialized areas.

Dr. Basem Fanous, Podiatrist, will be seeing patients at First Care Health Center the first and third Wednesday of every month. Call 1-800-943-3337 or 701-968-2541 to schedule appointments.
Dr. Fanous did his medical education and residency in New York City, New York. He has been in practice for 14 years, all of them in North Dakota.

Dr. Ronald Brockman, Ophthalmologist, physician director of outpatient surgical services, has been with the ophthalmology group at Altru since 1998. Along with his practice at Altru Clinic - Main in Grand Forks, Dr. Brockman travels throughout the region in North Dakota and Minnesota to do outreach work.
He received his undergraduate degree as a pre-medicine major from Pennsylvania State University in 1979. Dr. Brockman then obtained his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1982, and completed an internship in internal medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1983. From 1983 to 1986, he did his residency in ophthalmology at Georgetown University's Center for Sight - Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Brockman also obtained a Masters degree in Healthcare Administration with a specialty concentration in outpatient clinic practice from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management in 2001. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Brockman is a member of the North Dakota Medical Association and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
