Diabetes Prevention Program

Diabetes can be prevented but not cured. Take control of your health and start making positive lifestyle changes with the help of a trained lifestyle coach and fun, engaging support groups.

What is Prediabetes?
People with prediabetes have blood sugars higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diabetic.

Lifestyle changes resulting in modest weight loss can help someone with prediabetes prevent or delay Type 2 diabetes.

Stepping On

Stepping On is a free annual workshop in which Stepping On leaders will coach participants to recognize the risks of falling and help build balance, strength, confidence, and practical skills to help avoid falling. Stay tuned for dates.

Scholarships for Graduating High School Seniors

(The 2024 scholarship application period has closed. Check back in March 2025 for new applications.)

This spring, First Care Health Center in Park River, ND, will be awarding up to four $500 scholarships to area high school seniors who plan on continuing their education at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college/university or vocational/technical school with the intention of pursuing a career in a health-related field.

To apply, the Scholarship Application cover sheet must be completed and a 500-700 word essay must be submitted answering the question: What field or major do you intend on studying and how does it impact rural health in your community?
